Gerald N. "Jerry" Siela

GERALD N. "JERRY" SIELA, of Ossian, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was born May 16, 1930 in Decatur, Ind. a son of Leo and Emma (Nelson) Siela. He graduated from Rock Creek High School (Wells County) in 1948, and was a Korean War Veteran. Jerry retired from Peter Eckrich & Sons, Fort Wayne, in 1986, after a 30 year career. He proceeded to work at Falstaff Brewery for four years as a refrigeration mechanic, and was a self-employed handyman until 2013. He enjoyed his church, his family, and all his grandchildren's activities. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, card player, and fix-it man. He also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida for many years. He married Gloria Ann Kruse on Sept. 8, 1956, who survives; also surviving are his sons, Dan of Fort Wayne and Gary (Diana) of Bluffton; grandchildren, Jessica Siela and Jake Siela, both of Bluffton; siblings, Dwight (Martha) Siela of Fort Wayne, Beverly (Claron) Boots of Bluffton, and John (Jean) Siela of Markle; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Audry Siela, Barbara Siela, Wendell Siela, Laverne Siela, Caroline Siela, Leo Siela Jr., Leona Lund, Delmar Siela, and Robert Siela. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ossian, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at Elzey- Patterson- Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, (IN 46777). Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ossian. Preferred memorials are to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ossian and Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
