Hildegard L. Graft

Hildegard L. Graft, 98, of Ossian, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 4, 1916 in Adams County to the late Christian and Lydia (Schaper) Wente. In her early years, she had worked at Wayne Knitting Mill and after marriage, she worked as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aid and the Widows Club. Surviving are children, Allan K. (Sandra) Graft of Ossian, Larry L. (Nancy) Graft of Mentone, IN, Lloyd D. (Vickie) Graft of Ossian, Marlene F. Lesh of Uniondale, and Patricia A. (Rick) Krumma of Ossian; sister, Louise Brown of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and five step grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Graft, in 1994; children, William A., Donna J. and Douglas R. Graft; brothers, Edgar Wente and Norman Wente; and sister Gertrude Miller. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6514 E. 750 N., Ossian, IN 46777 with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation is also on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, IN 46777. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Preferred memorial may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
