James Edward Stewart

In 1970, James married the love of his life, Pearlie. For 55 years, the two created a loving legacy and many treasured memories. Beyond all else, James loved his family. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. Whether it was spending time with his grandkids, taking his wife on walks through the zoo, or taking his family out to Tincaps games, there are so many cherished moments that will remain in their hearts.

For 38 years, James dedicated his service to the United States Air Force. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was proud to fight for his country. He retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

James will forever be remembered as a hard-working, caring, and dedicated man. He is survived by his wife, Pearlie (neé. Cox) Stewart; daughter, Melissa (Marc) Bushey; grandchildren, Ryan Welbaum, Morgan Welbaum, Joey Bushey, and Casey Bushey; and siblings, John Wayne Stewart and Patricia Ann Buehler. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1:00PM, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, Indiana 46777. James will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian, Indiana. Full Military Honors will take place during the burial.
