Jeanette I. Gilbert

Jeanette I. Gilbert, 86, formerly of Uniondale, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Christian Care Retirement Community. Jeanette was born August 25, 1936 in Mount Zion, Indiana, daughter of the late Wilbur and O. Pauline (McIntire) Pond. She was a graduate of Chester Center High School. She married Gerald “Gene” Gilbert on April 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2009. Jeanette worked as a homemaker, caring for her family and was a member of Uniondale United Methodist Church. She and her husband enjoyed spending time working on building projects for the Oklahoma United Methodist Indian Conference and volunteering with the Oakland Penial Mission in the inner city of Oakland, California. Surviving are her children, Terry (Gloria) Gilbert of Uniondale, Kent (Wendy) Gilbert of Ossian, Jill (Keith) Martin of Ossian, and Jan (Michael) Roberson of Ossian; sister, Bonnie David of Ossian; grandchildren, Jeremy Gilbert, Jamie (Dan) Barnes, Jessica (Mike) Privett, Nicole (Brian) Krieger, Alecia (Alex) Redenius, Mitch (Amy) Wolfe, Craig (Shelby) Wolfe, and Matt (Ashley Crill) Martin; and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Yvonne Haney and W. Jean Steele. Visitation for Jeanette will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, Indiana 46777. Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Horeb Cemetery near Uniondale, Indiana.
