Marie E. Donaghy Martin

MARIE DONAGHY MARTIN, 94, a longtime resident of Ossian, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Christian Care Retirement Community, Bluffton. She was born Oct. 11, 1919 in Paulding, Ohio, a daughter of the late Eli and Emma Pfister. She graduated from the School of Practical Nursing in 1965 and was a LPN for Lutheran Hospital, working in the first coronary care unit at the hospital. Marie was a member of Ossian United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Bill (Cheryl) Donaghy of Ossian; daughter, Nancy (Russell) Haines of Talahassee, Fla.; stepchildren, David (Jane) Martin of Fort Wayne, and Mary Ann (Tex) Hunter of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Kathleen (Chad) Ware, David Donaghy, Ann Donaghy, DeWayne Haines and Peggy Haines; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Tillie Howell and Katherine Louise Heriholzer of Celina, Ohio, Pauline Baxter of Wilshire, Ohio; and brother, John (Pat) Pfister of Fort Wayne. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Donaghy; second husband, Cyril E. Martin; a brother, Elmer Pfister; and sister, Sophie Pfister. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Ossian United Methodist Church, 201 W. Mill St., Ossian, (IN 46777), with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
