

WILMER P. WERLING, 83, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012, at River Terrace, Bluffton. He was a former resident of rural Ossian. Born March 1, 1929, in Ossian, he was the son of the late Rufas and Marie Werling. A graduate of Ossian High School, he was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He worked as a school bus driver for Northern Wells Community Schools; drove semi for Thunderbird Products, Decatur; and was a farmer. He also served in the U. S. Army in Korea as a Sargeant. He married his wife of 55 years, Jacqualine on Jan. 25, 1957, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Surviving are his wife, Jacqualine of Bluffton; sons, Gary A. (Darlene) Werling of Ossian, Scott A. (Lisa) Werling and Steven R. (Charmaine) Werling, both of Decatur, Darrin M. (Laura) Werling of Ossian, Thomas M. Werling of Anaheim, Calif., and Blair J. Werling of Ossian; sisters, Erma (Richard) Henderson of New Haven, Helene (Robert) Hegerfeld of Hoagland, Iverna (Gerald) Burns of Grabill, and Ruth (Richard) Bultemeyer of Angola; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service is 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6514 E. 750N., Ossian, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School.
