

Edmund G. Preuschoff, “Ed”, passed away on March 29, 2011, at the Othello Community Hospital, at the age of 81. He was born in Petersburg, Alaska on Sept. 4, 1929 to Ed and Louise (Seitzer) Preuschoff. After graduating from high school in Petersburg, he attended W.S.U. until 1951. He was called into the Army during the Korean War, and spent two years in Japan as a radio operator. He was discharged in 1953. He returned to W.S.U. to finish his senior year. He graduated from there in 1954 with a B.A. in History and a Masters Degree in Education. He and his college sweetheart, Julia Mearns, were married in 1953 when he returned to the U.S.
Ed was a high school history teacher in Colton, Clarkston, and Othello, WA. He then accepted the high school principal job in Concrete, WA, which he held for three years. He was the high school principal in Prosser, WA for one year before returning to Othello as a junior high teacher. He then became the principal at Lutacaga, where he stayed until his retirement in 1982. He worked for Adams Co. as the Fire Marshall and Building Inspector for three years. He also sold real estate for several years. Ed was a member of Othello’s Paul Revere Masonic Lodge #205. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working in his garden. He especially enjoyed growing roses.
He is survived by his wife, Julia, and three children, Valerie (Det) Wegener of the Tri Cities, Holly (Dwight) Clark of Issaquah, and Edmund D. (Charlotte) Preuschoff of Spokane. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Liesl Batdorf and Katje Wegener of the Tri-Cities, Jillian, Kylie and Cassidy Clark of Issaquah, and Katherine and Erika and Edmund James Preuschoff of Spokane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Louise Preuschoff, and his sister, Katherine Preuschoff. Ed will be missed by his friends, his family, the communities he has served, and his beloved wife of 58 years.
