

Joyce was born on June 21, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa to Russell and Mildred (Johannsen) Herren. She was raised and educated in Iowa, graduating from High School in 1948. Between 1949 and 1989 Joyce married four men, Rollen Dennison, Tom Fodge, Walter Norquist and Erich Alterman. Though each marriage eventually ended, they gave Joyce her 12 children. In 1970 Joyce returned to school to study nursing. She attained her LPN in 1972. She worked at the local hospital in Mansfield, Missouri, then moved back to Clinton, Iowa and worked at a factory as the on call nurse until moving to Kansas City, Kansas where she worked at K-Mart then she moved to Othello in 1991 to assist her son with the “Waterhole 17”, as a waitress. She then worked for Potters Drug Store as a cashier, retiring in 2005.
Joyce loved all kinds of crafts, from making jewelry to making T-Shirts. She gathered media for all. She was a member of the Othello Eagles, Aerie #3396 and a member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her son Kermit and her daughter Joyce. She is survived by her children; Pamela (Ray) Gall of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky, Janice (Michael) Farley of Othello, Tom Dennison (Lori) of Othello, Sam (Deniece) Fodge and Glenn ( Penney) Fodge Both of Bonners Ferry, ID, Amy Mercantel of Iraq, Candice Fodge of Overland Park, Kansas, Zane (René) Fodge Coeur D’Alene, ID, Aaron Fodge of Orofino, ID and Heather (Oliver) Andrews of Moyer Springs, ID, 25 grand children and 36 great grand children.
