He is survived by his wife and best friend Lisa Ducharme, his parents Helen (née Yurkovich) and Richard Bucko, his sister Amelia (Todd Horn) and niece Poppy. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents-in-law Jeannine (née Dupuis) and André Ducharme, siblings-in-law Anne (Jason) Postma, Michel (Tammy) Ducharme and Guy Ducharme, nieces and nephews Ryan, Sydney, Spencer, Zoé and Toby. Alex will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles and cousins in the Yurkovich and Miller families, as well as many other relatives, friends and colleagues. Alex will also be missed by his beloved cat Lenny. He was predeceased by his cherished cat Vixen.
A Sports Administration program graduate, Alex was an avid sports fan who especially loved football, hockey and Formula 1 racing. He always enjoyed a spirited debate, a good cup of coffee and quoting The Simpsons at every opportunity. His keen sense of humour and generous nature will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, followed by a gathering for friends and family from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Masks will be required; the family asks that those attending please complete the COVID-19 self assessment: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/. A celebration of life will take place in Ottawa at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
