It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Andrew Sarazin. He left this world on December 27, 2024 at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 64. He was the son of the late Regent Sarazin and of the the late Veronica Voellmecke. He leaves in mourning his brother Brent Sarazin, his sisters Ann Sarazin, Maria Manitopyes, Patricia Lynn Sarazin as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Our dear brother Michael was born at Scarborough General Hospital in Toronto Ontario on November 10, 1960.
At the young age of 4 years old, the family moved to Ottawa where Michael lived most of his life before entering the military at the age of 20. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980 and remained until 1997. His career in the Army offered him many opportunities to experience world travel from Alert in the high Arctic of Canada to U.N. peacekeeping missions in Europe.
Upon leaving the Armed Forces, Michael began a new career as a Commissionaire for the Government of Canada in Ottawa spanning from 2003 until his retirement in 2020.
Despite his medical challenges, Michael did not complain and would always say “One day at a time”. Mike was a person who loved without words. What do you say about a man whose kindness and patience truly set him apart?
Michael was loved by so many and especially by his siblings Ann, Maria, Patricia and Brent.
Our family would like to thank all the medical staff and critical care team at the Ottawa General Hospital who cared for Michael. We also thank the Leahey, Sarazin and Voellmecke families for their love. In addition, a special thank you goes out to Claude and Camille Marion for their support during Michael’s final days.
A graveside service will be conducted at Ottawa’s Notre-Dame Cemetery (455 Montreal Road, Ottawa, Ontario) in section 45 at lot number 121 on Tuesday January 14, 2024 at 11:30AM.
