Anna Luisa Ferreira was born on November 10, 1931 and passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 28, 2017 just two weeks short of her 86th birthday after a brief battle with cancer. The time well spent in her final days and the beauty and dignity of her last moments will always be remembered as she held her daughter Kathleen's hands, breathed her last and gave way to the cancer that consumed her. The beauty and dignity of her passing was ensured by the loving care and oversight of Dr. Louise Coulombe and her team of wonderful palliative care nurses who helped guide the family through Anna Luisa's final earthly journey in the home she shared with her daughter and was cared for since her husband Fernando Da Rocha's death many years before. The good doctor and her team turned chaos into order, fear into confidence and despair into hope, not for a miracle cure, but for a comfortable and full life for our dear mother, giving much needed time and strength for the family to grow in love, heal in forgiveness and see the beauty of love overcome the horrors of cancer. Love overwhelms every earthly horror including death, for love never ends. Anna Luisa remains in her family's hearts and rejoins her husband, her parents, brothers and sisters and all those who have loved and have gone before in an eternal communion of saints, embraced by Love, for God is Love. Visitation on Wednesday, November 1 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 2 at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Patrick's Basilica, 220 Kent Street. Burial will take place at Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal at 2 p.m.
