Bernie passed away peacefully on April 16, 2011 at home at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Lucille Dubue. Dear Father of Bernard Jr. (Heather), Sandra Sutton (James), Janet Manoni (Luigi), Barbara Lahey (Ron). Loving Grandfather of Andrew, Samantha (Mark), Krista, Ashley, Michael, Joseph, David, Angela, Alexander, Virginia and Great Grandfather of Faith Desjardins. Son of the late William Armstrong and the late Mary- Ellen Murdock. Brother of Robert Wise, predeceased by brothers Leonard, Ervin, Robert, Thomas, Gerald and sister Charlotte Lanoue. He had a long and distinguished career in the Public Service of Canada commencing with the Department of Agriculture, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Manpower and Immigration, and retiring from Public Works Canada in 1989. After his retirement from PWC he operated the Armstrong Building Services Company for a number of years. He was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 5558, a member of Moose Lodge 1765, a member of the Fourth Degree K of C Bishop John Behan Assembly 2230, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion 462 Branch. He was past President of the Administrative Management Society- Ottawa, and for many years a member of the International Productivity Institute. He will be long remembered by his many friends and acquaintances for his ever-present “sense of humor” and his “willingness to help others” and will be sadly missed by his loving family.
