

Peacefully, at St. Patrick’s Home, Eileen Slobodian, 90, passed away on February 28, 2017. She is survived by Jim, her loving husband of almost 60 years. Beloved mother of Louise (Richard Cohen) and Michael (Marian). Dear sister of Tom (Claudette) McConville and Diane/Sunanda (Gordon) Pacey. Remembered by her brothers-in-law Bud (June) Bregg and Gerry (Marcelle Hubert) Slobodian and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Philomene and Bill McConville, and her siblings Teresa, John, Lil, Tony, Colleen, Peggy and Ann. Eileen was a proud member of the federal public service, working for the National Research Council and Revenue Canada, Taxation. Eileen benefitted from the skills and kindness of many health professionals and it is with deep gratitude that the family thanks them all, with special mention to Dr. Catherine D’Amico, Dr. Donald Beanlands, Dr. Doug Wilkins, the caring staff at Valley Stream Manor and the utter dream team at St. Pat’s, Waterford. Thank you also to companions Vimal Goge and Marilyn Ellis. Family and friends are invited for visitations on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Rd., Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption parish, 320 Olmstead St., Ottawa.
