Ernest Paquette

With love in our hearts and with sadness, the Paquette family announces the passing of Ernest *Ernie* Paquette on February 23, 2025, at the age of 85. He was the son of the late Ulric Paquette and the late Oliva Dumouchel and was raised in Cyrville (Ottawa).

He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Jeannine and his three children Daniel (Roxane), Sylvie, and Serge; a daughter-in-law, Nadine; and, two grandchildren Sonia and Eric. He was predeceased by his siblings Lucienne (deceased Josef Prubant), Jean-Guy (Carmen Cyr), Denise (Ivanhoé *Vano* Crête), and Paul (deceased Lise Quinn) and leaves behind his siblings Yvonne (deceased Gilles Poulin), Michel *Mike* (Arlene *Cookie* Dickinson), and Suzanne (David Clark). He was predeceased by many cousins, nephews and nieces and leaves behind others, all dearly beloved.

Ernest was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed! He enjoyed a full life and his many qualities more than made up for any of his shortcomings. He had a tender heart, was creative and hard-working. Combining his vision, creativity, persistence, attention to detail, and people-centered approaches, his projects had a way of turning either into successful businesses or fun-focussed endeavours (and sometimes both!).

The family would like to extend thanks to the management and staff at Heritage Retirement Home for the care that our beloved Ernest received in the last two years of his life, and to the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint-Vincent (Bruyère) Hospital for making his last two months as comfortable as possible.

Family and friends are invited to a reception, celebration of life, and commemorative service that will take place on April 5 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home Racine, Robert & Gauthier, 180 Montreal Road in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
