Filomena Astri-Mallette

After a long 38 year battle with breast cancer, it finally got the best of her and she passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care unit at the Hull campus of the Gatineau Hospital with her spouse of 60 years at her side. She fought it till the end.

She is survived by her spouse Jean-Pièrre Mallette, her children Stephen (Lise) and Lisa (Roger), her grandchildren Kevin (Cloe), Jessicka (Brandon), Marie-Eve (Tristan), Rebecka (Guillaume), Kassandra (Alexandre) and her great grandchildren Lexie and Xavier, her sister Marisa and sister-in-law Madeleine, her friend Beverly of many years and many other friends too numerous to name.

Born in Montelanico, Italy, she came to Canada with her family in 1952. After going to school in Canada she met her future husband in 1963. After an Italian courtship, they married in 1965, for a total relationship of 62 years. She was very active in parish life, especially as a greeter at mass.

Predeceased by her parents Giuseppe Astri and Ida Federico, her in-laws Jean-Maurice Mallette and Rhea Sarault, her sister Annunciata (Giulio Ricci) and brother-in-law Ezio Cacciotti.

Celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish 189 rue Archambault Gatineau, QC
