Mr. Frederick Jaakson

passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on May 12, 2013 at his home. Fred is survived by his loving wife and daughter, Michèle and Maja Jaakson; sons Jean-Paul and Guy Fournier; and cousin Vivian Young. He is predeceased by his parents, August and Maja. Fred was born December 12, 1942. While a partner at KPMG, he was sent to Ottawa to write the framework for the National Energy Program. There, he met his future wife, Michèle. After moving to Ottawa in 1989, Fred worked for as a senior Auditor for the federal government. He was just and highly respected by his colleagues. A supporter of the arts, an avid virtual pilot, and a racing enthusiast. He graduated from the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in 1966 and for the past 33 years, he enjoyed watching the Grand-Prix with his wife. A kind and gentle father, he took pleasure in playing computer games with his daughter. Visitation will be held at Robert, Racine & Gauthier Funeral Home 180, Montreal Rd on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 2-4pm and 6:30-8:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sainte-Geneviève Church on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, 737 Parkdale Ave., 1st floor, Ottawa, ON, K1Y1J8; or Carefor Health and Community Services, 760 Belfast Rd., Ottawa, ON, K1G 6M8. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hospice at Maycourt, Carefor, and the doctors and staff at the Cancer Centre for providing Fred with excellent care and support.
