It is with extreme sadness that we must announce Gerald’s passing on August 16, 2012 at the age of 58. Loving husband and soul mate of Della Lacharity, and proud caretaker and Dad to his three cats, Jasper, Maggie and Jackson. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Christina (Ryan) Rooney. Loving brother of Father Lomer, Kevin (Barb), Dwyla (Jacques), Carolyn (Otto), Rhea (Brian), Janie (Raymond) and Patricia (Pete). Predeceased by his siblings Sheila and Vincent, nephew Jeremy and godson Chad. Survived by his precious godchildren Stephanie Pytak and John Sullivan. Loving son-in-law and dear friend of Lena and the late Mick Lacharity. Brother-in-law of Diane (Maynard), Mary (Fern), Leonard (Evelyn), Lorne (Debbie), and Theresa (Larry). Gerald spent precious time with and was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gerald loved spending time with his close friends, especially up the Gatineau at his family home in Venosta and our country home in Kaz. He will be missed by his country dogs, and wildlife. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 19 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) and on Monday from 10:00am to 12:30pm at the Venosta Recreation Centre. Funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Venosta, Quebec. Interment, St. Martin’s Cemetery. In keeping with Gerald’s final act of kindness, the family asks that you consider registering as a tissue and organ donor with the Trillium Gift of Life Network. Love you Gerald.
