Royal 22e Régiment
Our Dad, surrounded by his loving family, slipped away peacefully with dignity the evening of Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Perley Rideau. Born October 2, 1920 in Lauzon/Lévis, Quebec to a large French Canadian family, he decided at the young age of 16 to pursue a military career. During W.W. ll in Sicily, while leading his troops, Dad was wounded 3 times. Later on, after action reports, he was awarded his Military Cross. After recovering from his wounds, Dad’s career took him throughout North America and Europe. Upon retirement from numerous federal positions, he deservedly relaxed and became an ambassador for his Copeland Park neighbourhood. Regretfully, Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Annie Fox. He leaves behind 2 daughters and a son, (Mary, Sue, Guy), 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and his puppy-in-law. Visitation will be on Friday, June 27 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, K1V 1A6 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will take place at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church (off Maitland and the Queensway) on Saturday, June 28 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation will be gratefully accepted.
