Born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, John grew up in the Northwest Territories, and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1966 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Shortly after his marriage in 1966, he and Maureen travelled with CUSO to Zambia where they made many life-long friends.
His chosen career in the field of telecommunications brought him to many cities in North and South America, Europe, and Africa. Work at BNR and MTS launched his interest in innovation and led him to establish his own consulting business.
John embodied the spirit of a true Christian, and had a kind and generous heart. He will be remembered by his many friends as a life-long learner, avid cyclist, Internet Pioneer, and Citizen Scientist.
Our many thanks to all the staff at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and the Civic and General campuses of the Ottawa Hospital. In memoriam, donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation or The University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.
