Johnny Pisana, 86, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025. He was born in Pachino, Sicily, and he moved to Toronto, Canada when he was 16 years old. Johnny loved talking about history, music, religion, and life. He was extremely knowledgeable; he had a deep interest in reading and researching, and he always welcomed a thoughtful conversation with others. He enjoyed open, honest dialogue and prided himself on his ability to understand all perspectives. Others would often gravitate to him to listen and learn, but his true love was being around people of all cultures. The joy of interaction and sharing his knowledge was his greatest gift to all of us.
He was the son of the late Salvatore Pisana and the late Maria Quartarone.
For 62 years, he shared his life and heart with his beloved wife, Antonietta Pisana. She was the center of his world, and he spent his days ensuring her life was filled with love, comfort, and joy.
He will also forever be held in the hearts of his treasured children, Maria Pisana Khazal (the late Jasem Khazal) and Anna Cardone (Sergio Cardone); his beloved grandchildren Sabiha, Sara, Katherine, and Emily; and his cherished “fur and feather” great-grandchildren — Alessi, Lyla, Oreo, Mango, and Blueberry — who always brought him joy. He will also be missed deeply by his sister, Sebastiana Ruscica (Frank Ruscica), his dear friends, and his many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and PSWs at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, for their compassionate care.
Memorial donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada (https://kidney.ca).
