Lorice passed away serenely at age 79 surrounded by her family on Monday, February 14, 2011. She is the wife of Francis Bassile, beloved mother of Wilson, Elias (Dominique), Tony (Veronica), and Francis Jr. (Sandra). She is also leaving behind many grandchildren, Sara (Louis), Dana, Jesse, Elliot, Danika, Ethan and a love of her life, one great grandchild, Mia, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and in Lebanon. She left us to be with her father and mother, Wanise and Nelly Hechme and to join her sisters, Alice Wanna and Nuhad Kassis, and her brother Bassem in peaceful eternity. She is the loving sister of Nabih Hechme (Annette), Khalid Hechme (Nabila), Bassema Kassouf (Nabil) of Ottawa, and two sisters, Wadad Abdallah (Mohammed) and Hanan Khouri (Sahim) of Lebanon. Our thanks and gratitude to Dr. Hopkins and the team of doctors and staff at the Cancer Clinic of the General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral would be appreciated. Friends may pay respects at McEvoy Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Rd.), on Thursday, February 17 from 5 to 9 PM.
