Passed away peacefully at the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre, surrounded by family. Predeceased by his wife Margaret Carroll and several brothers and sisters. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Beloved brother of Mary Hayter (late Gordon) and Mary Ann Morse (Richard). Survived by his sons Douglas (Judy), Alan (Cindy) and daughter Maureen (Patrick). He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Stephanie (Richard); Amanda (Tristan); Megan (Jamie); Kyle; Mark (Carrie); Keri; Allison (Rob); Tricia (Shawn) and several great grandchildren. A veteran of WWII, he served as a Sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers; a long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion Westboro Branch 480, and past member of the Honour Guard. A soldier to the end, he leaves the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre and his beloved care givers for his final posting at Notre Dame Cemetery. Louis will be fondly remembered as "legs" and for his midnight renovations and electrical additions to his room at the Perley. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff on Ottawa 2 East. Your care and attention were greatly appreciated throughout this difficult time. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa. Visitation on Wednesday, November 26 from 1-3 pm followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 3 pm. Reception to follow. Private interment at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre would be appreciated.
