Marcel "Des" Desormeaux

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Des left us on January 19, 2018 in his 87th year. After a full life, he passed away peacefully at home listening to his big band music. Devoted husband of 64 years to Eva Desormeaux (nee Henry). Loving father of Barry (Brenda), Sharon Picard (Karl), Tracey Desormeaux-Ienzi (Achille), and the late Theresa. Proud grandfather to Corey (Chanelle), Travis (Heather), Krista (Kiefer), Kallie (Shawn), Dante, Christiano and Matteo and great-grandfather to Ella. Des had a very successful career in the public service and, upon retiring, started a consulting business and began spending more time on the golf course and at the cottage he built in Venosta. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, charm and intellect, but more importantly, for the abundance of pride he had in his family and his immeasurable devotion to Eva. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ruth Farey, the staff at Oakpark Retirement Community and the Champlain LHIN for their care and compassion throughout our father’s illness. Visitation will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Foundation at http://www.cheofoundation.com.
