Maya passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26 at the age of 87. Born July 18th, 1929 in Germany. Maya immigrated to Canada in 1956 and married Hans Mestern whom she met in Canada in 1958. The young family lived in Rome, Italy for two years before returning to Canada. Maya leaves behind her beloved husband Hans Mestern and son Gordon (Ruth), daughter Nicole Mestern and grandchildren Natalya and Sophia. She is survived by her sister Rita Baum (late Dieter) and brother Gustl Doller in Germany. She was predeceased by her brother Josef Doller (late Rosl) in Germany. Friends meant everything to Maya and she was grateful for the love shown to her and her family. Visitation at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Friday, December 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 Noon. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 12 noon followed by a reception. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive at 3 pm.
