Marie Reepschlager

1927-2024

After a long struggle with illness, Marie “Mia” peacefully and gently went to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on July 23rd 2024. Born in East Prussia, Germany, Mum and her family fled their home in 1945, and made their way to West Germany where she later married Wilhelm Baginski. Marie and Wilhelm immigrated to Canada in the early 50’s where they started a wonderful family of three girls: Rosemarie, Margot and Brigitte. Sadly widowed, Mum later re-married Adolf “Eddy” Reepschlager, and a blessed 4th child Paul was added to the family.

Mum is pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Margot, her two husbands, and multiple siblings in Germany and in the United States. Cherished and loved by her children, grand-children, great-grand-children and their families. Dearest sister to Ruth and Gustav Jr., and aunt to many nieces and nephews in Germany, the US and Canada.

Mum will be remembered for her unwavering trust in the Lord, and her unconditional love and support of family. She was a master seamstress and homemaker who delighted in hosting family events, enjoyed baking, gardening and crafts. There were always hugs and chocolate chip cookies whenever you visited.

Friends and family are invited to visit at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa on Monday July 29th from 5-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Sparks Street (corner of Bay and Sparks) Ottawa on Tuesday July 30th at 11:00 am. Our family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to Mila, Lillian, Jessica, and other caregivers as well as to all Willow House (Peter D Clark LTC) staff for their loving kindness and support of Mum over the years. Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be appreciated.
