

Laham, Mary Lee (nee Furlong)In the loving arms of her daughters on Tuesday, November 3 2009, at the age of 85 after a life filled with love, laughter and too many friends to mention. Mary was the proud mother of four daughters she adored: Linda McGreevy (Garry Janz), Dianne Laham, Sandra Kaiser and Mary Lynn Lanthier (John Froome), who blessed her with eight beautiful grandchildren, Scott and Kirk McGreevy, Shane and Lee Ann Meagher, Leigha and Jay Hosie and Jennifer and Colleen Kaiser, and four great-grandsons, Nicholas and Liam McGreevy and Evan and Connor Meagher. Mary is survived by her brother Ivan Furlong (Audrey) and pre-deceased by brothers Jim Furlong (World War II), Willis Furlong and sister Glenna Thompson, her best friend for most of her life. Mary’s life was enriched by many friends that she treasured, among them the father of her four daughters, Eddie Laham (deceased), the Royal Canadian Legion Eastview Branch 462 members and the English Knights in Vanier. Mary was a proud World War II veteran who was proud to serve her country. In March, 2009, Mary was honoured with the Meritorious Service Award.The family would like to thank Dr. Joel Niznick and Dr. John Kindle for the outstanding care given to Mary that played a major role in extending her life. This allowed her more time to do the things she loved: spend time with her children and grandkids, dance, especially jive, play Euchre, Upwards, a word game she seldom lost and laugh with family and friends. A special thanks to the Montfort Hospital for their compassionate care during the final weeks of Mary’s life. Visitation will take place at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Road, Ottawa (613-241-3680) Thursday, November 5 from 6 – 9. The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, November 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Mary’s requested that donations be made to the Eastview Branch 462, Royal Canadian Legion.
