Mary Riley

We have lost a warm, loving, strong and incredible Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend on May 1st, 2019 at the age of 90 years old. Mary had a kind soul and the most beautiful smile that would light up a room.

Mary is survived and loved by her son Patrick (Daena Gilmour), daughter Mary Ellen (late David Stefano), sisters Odile (Bob Switzer), Judy (late Frank Corrigan, late Don Gale), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Dr. John Riley, sons Michael and Sean, sisters Paula (late John Lapensée) and Cathy (late Reginald 'Barry' Barrett).

We would like to say a very special thank you to family friends David Hamel and Lynn Blakeney for their love and devotion to Mary, especially their love and assistance over the last several years. Also a very special thank you to Mary's neighbours Don Miller and Susan Clarke as well as Kathleen Fischer for their ongoing love and support over many years.

The family is very grateful for the compassionate care from Avital Winer and Angèle Lamothe of Speech-Language Pathology at the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) over the last 8 years and Dr. Charles Adamson and his team at the Bruyère Family Medicine Centre. We are also very thankful for the loving care Mary received from the doctors and nurses in her final days in Palliative Care at the Ottawa General Hospital.

Friends are invited to visit at Racine, Robert and Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Rd., on Tuesday, May 7 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 400 St Laurent Blvd, Ottawa on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
