May 1,1951—July 5, 2023
It is with the deepest sadness and regret that we announce the passing of our beloved spouse and mother after the sudden onset of an untreatable illness.
Nadia was born in Edmonton, though her childhood and teenage years were spent in Regina. She attended the University of Regina, obtaining an Honours B.A. in History. Thereafter, Nadia attended Carleton University, obtaining Masters Degrees in Canadian History and in East European Studies. Her training with the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music earned her an ARCT Diploma of Piano Pedagogy. She was an accomplished pianist and teacher.
It was in Ottawa that she met and married (in Regina) her husband Yurij "George" and gave birth to two sons: Roman and Adrian.
After graduation Nadia found employment with the Federal Government; first with the National Archives, then with the Dept. of Industry until her retirement in 2012.
Nadia made friends very easily and was active and well liked and known in the Ottawa Ukrainian community. She leaves behind her grieving husband and sons; her mother Elizabeth; sister Marta (David Allan) and nephews Stephen and Michael; brother Dmytro (Debbie) and nieces Hannah, Natalie, Melissa, and nephew Jordan; and relatives and cousins in Ukraine and Canada.
