Beloved husband of Sandra Ayoub and devoted son of Moira and the late Finlay Moylan. Paul died peacefully on Tues. Feb. 25th, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 60 years. Born just outside Dublin, Paul emigrated from Ireland at a very young age. One of eight children raised by Catholic parents, Paul pursued his own life’s journey with growing introspection about faith. In 2003 Paul and Sandra
embarked on what he calls a 21st century pilgrimage, walking the 800km long, trail across northern Spain known as ‘The Way of St. James’ or ‘The Camino de Santiago’. The journey altered his life, creating a passion for modern pilgrimage. Upon his return to Ottawa, Paul developed and presented workshops across Canada. These courses and the subsequent inquiries from many hundreds of workshop attendees inspired Paul to write Camino 101 – A Pre-walk Planning Guide. In 2009 Paul returned to Spain to trek the country a second time, the outcome of which would see him write Camino de Santiago: Fingerprints of God. Paul’s generous spirit will be sorely missed by his brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, the Ayoub family, and the many friends and people he touched along The Way. A Funeral Mass followed by reception will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 194 Fourth Ave on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:30am. Private interment at Pincrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made in his name to The Hospice at May Court or Care Canada.
