A light that shone so bright in all of our lives for 83 beautiful years has gone out.
Marie Rejeanne ‘Reggie’ Hagerup passed on peacefully Sunday, August 5th, surrounded by loved ones.
Everyone who knew Reggie was touched by her presence, whether they had known her for years, or simply shared a special moment with her. She was full of love, with an unmistakable sense of humor that will never leave the hearts or thoughts of those who cared for her. We were so blessed to have an angel sent to us and will be forever grateful for all the precious memories that we hold so close. Seeing how deeply she touched the hearts of the many people who visited her throughout her final journey was very moving.
Reggie will be dearly missed by her daughters Lynne Hagerup (Peter Cook) and Patti Hagerup, her son Steven Hagerup (Taqialoo Sataa), her beloved granddaughter Lucy Hagerup-Labrosse and grandson Dean Hagerup, her dear sister Suzanne Bradley (Jack Bradley). She will also be greatly missed by her “adopted” daughter Kathryn Ellis, and friends Lorrainne Kelly, Sheila Unrau, and Father Kipling. She also looks forward to reconnecting with her sister Lucienne Hancock, mother Eva Fillion, father Lucien Fillion, and surely some dear friends.
Respects may be paid at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road at Albion Road, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday August 9th at 10:00 am at Saint Patrick’s Basilica, 220 Kent Street, Ottawa, the church in which she volunteered for nearly 20 years. The reception will follow. Donations may be made in Reggie’s honour to the Elisabeth Bruyere foundation, directed towards the fifth floor Palliative Care Unit. Our lasting gratitude for the love and compassion everyone there showed Reggie and her entire family.
