It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Gordon Ade ‘Rob’ at home on Friday, April 3, 2020, due to a heart attack. Born in Ottawa on February 18, 1949 to the late Clarence and Phyllis (Markwick) Ade, Rob grew up in the neighbourhood of New Edinburgh in Ottawa. He is extremely missed by his wife and best friend Terry (nee Mackenzie), daughter Jillian (Chris) Sibbitt, and much-loved grand-daughter, Belinda (his 'Shnooky'), who loved her 'Bop' dearly. He is also survived and will be missed by siblings Harold, Sheryl (Bill) McLeod, and Dorothy (Bob) Covert, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rob graduated from Lisgar Collegiate Institute and the University of Waterloo. He worked for Met Life and retired from Agriculture Canada after many years of civil service. Rob played harmonica and penny whistle, and loved to jam with his group, the “Dunrobin Trio,” and at open mic nights wherever he could find them. Rob was most happy at Red Pine Camp where he spent two weeks every summer with his family and many friends. There will be a Celebration of Life once gatherings are again permitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Red Pine Camp or a charity of your choice. Arrangements with McEvoy-Shields.
