Bob Guenette died on November 17th, 2014 of colon cancer, just short of his 50th birthday. Bob's biggest source of joy, his greatest accomplishment, and the thing he was most proud of, was being the father and hero of Justin and Ben, his beloved sons with Margaret Jarmoc. They are his legacy. Bob's partner, Ingrid Stott, and her children Greta and Alexander Larkin, are truly blessed to have shared their lives with him and the boys. She loves him deeply and is lost without him. Heart-broken to lose their cherished son and brother so young are his parents, Don and Donna, brother Steve (Cheryl), sister Suzanne (Charles), brother Denis and families. Margie will be comforted in the memories of their family life together and will miss his love and support. Bob often said that he and Margie were always on the same page when it came to the kids, and was secure in the knowledge that the boys will forever feel his influence through her. Bob had a true and loyal group of friends who made him a priority in their lives while he was sick. He believed that the measure of a man is the quality of people he surrounds himself with, and his buds are a testament to that. You know who you are. Bob's favourite thing in life was to watch his sons play sports. He lost his will to live when he realized that he had seen his sons play their last South End hockey game. His coaching will forever echo in arenas and baseball diamonds all over Ottawa for Justin, Ben, and an entire cohort of their friends. Ingrid was Bob's caregiver throughout his illness, and wishes to thank Dr. Coulombe and the nurses at CCAC for making it possible for him to die at home, in his own bed, surrounded by loved ones, in the house he built for Margie and the boys. In lieu of flowers, Bob requests that you have yourself screened for colon cancer as early as possible. Donations can also be made to the White North Gaming fundraiser at "bit.ly/wngdonatenow" in support of colon cancer research, which was an initiative for Bob launched by Justin and his friends this past summer. Visitation at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, on Friday, November 21 from 1-3 pm followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 3 pm.
