On Saturday, January 30, 2021, Teresa Marie Hubbard (née Verdon), a devoted wife and mother, passed away in her 100th year. Dearly beloved wife and best friend of Thomas Stephen Hubbard (deceased in 2014) for 66 years, wise and loving mother to Stephen (Lilly) NC, Louise (Stephen Hall) Ottawa, and Danielle of Montreal. Grandson Thomas Hubbard (Tommy) of Fort Lauderdale and great-grandmother to Makenzie and Tommy. Predeceased by her infant son Paul, her precious sisters Isabelle Bourgeois and Germaine (Gerry) Kennedy. She is survived by her loving brother George Verdon (GA), brother-in-law Gil Hubbard (Joanne) and sister-in-law Aline (Bert) Hubbard, many nieces and nephews and her extended Hall-Gage family. Teresa’s goddaughters and godson had a very special place in her heart. Many of Teresa and Tom’s friends have passed on, but their families who remain behind know who they are and know of the deep and lasting friendships our parents had. Our mother was born Marie-Thérèse Antoinette Verdon on September 5th, 1921 in Ottawa, ON to Athanase Verdon et Amanda Soublière. Throughout her life, Thérèse was kind-spirited, gentle of nature, and so very wise, providing her family good counsel in her quiet and supportive way. A graduate of the convent in Aylmer, Thérèse went on to work at the Bank of Canada, until the time, despite breaking a few hearts along the way, she met the love of her life, Tommy Hubbard. Together they were TNT. As a couple, they were avid curlers at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club where Mom was President of the Ladies’ curling and won many a bonspiel. Mom enjoyed travelling, first as a companion to Dad at conventions of the Hansard Association, The Canadian Hockey Association, The Canadian Bar Association, and later, on road trips and European trips with Dad, family members and friends. Yet, some of our most treasured family memories were made at home, and at the cottage on Mississippi Lake. Maman, you are now once again with your life partner, our dearly beloved Dad, for he wrote to you in his own hand, “I love you today, I will love you forever”. The funeral for immediate family will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road at 11:30 a.m EST on Wednesday February 3, 2021, and livestreamed via www.funeraweb.tv. Internment at Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring. A very special and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Oakpark Retirement Community, Dr. Ruth Farey, and all the nurses, PSWs and all support staff of the 2nd floor including Mila and your team. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Shepherds of Good Hope would be appreciated by the family.
