Viola Duggan

Viola was born in Bristol, Quebec April 27, 1925. She is one of 13 siblings born to Austin and Josephine Gibbons.

Viola is predeceased by her husband (Michael Francis Duggan), and siblings Wilfred Gibbons (Beryl), Marcella Dumas (Richard), Thomas Gibbons (Frieda), Edward Gibbons (Joy), Noreen Hurley (Bernie), Raymond Gibbons, Harold Gibbons, Carl Gibbons, Galvin Gibbons (Theresa) and Robert Gibbons.

She is survived by her three children, Deborah Conrad (Michael) of Halifax , Nova Scotia, Cheryl–Lynn Ferguson (Derek) of Ottawa, Ontario, Daniel Duggan (Lyne Jolicoeur) of Shawville, Quebec, grandchildren Melissa Whittleton (Matthew) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Shauna McNally (Ryan) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Laura Baxter (Thomas) of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Matthew Ferguson of Toronto Ontario, and Scott Ferguson of Ottawa Ontario, Austin, Roy and Kate Duggan of Shawville Quebec, along with 9 great grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed but remembered with love by her surviving sisters Josephine Kearns, Marie McGraw (Frank), brother-in-law Donald Kearns, sister–in-laws Eileen Gibbons (Carl), Noreen Gibbons (Raymond), Arlene Gibbons (Robert) and Mary Gibbons (Harold).

Viola’s legacy will be her lasting love and the fond memories of her many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the Revera community for their dedication and commitment to Viola during her time with them. Finally, thanks to the staff of Sarsfield Colonial Home for their professional and compassionate care. Viola was truly surrounded by family and friends during her last days.

Funeral service for Viola will be held at McEvoy - Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, Ontario K1V 1A6 on Friday, May 17, 2019. Visitation will be at 10 am, service 11am followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Viola’s name to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, 750 Russell Rd Suite 1742 Ottawa Ontario, K1Z 5Z6
