

Our much loved, husband, Fodder, and grandpa, Edmund Gilbert Godinez, “Gil”, 82, was called home on August 31, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Gil was born on November 20, 1933 in Hidden Valley, Ca. He was a life-long resident of Ventura County and a Korean War Veteran. He retired from the CB Naval Base, changed careers and went on to retire from Mesa Union School as the MOT Supervisor. He was a hard worker, built many houses from the foundation up and rebuilt cars from the tires up. In his youth, he loved to ride and race motorcycles. He also loved to fix cars, garden, hunt, trap shoot, fish, cycle, and camp. He was a member of the Piru Sportsman’s Gun Club, Los Cazadores Gun Club, and the Winchester Gun Club. He was a skilled marksman who won various classes at ATA shoots. He was passionate about teaching his grandchildren to fish and hunt and often volunteered at their schools. He was an active and dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Alanna, his son, Edmund R., his former wife of 38 years, Maria Lucy, their daughters: Josephine Godinez, Christine Lauriano, Elizabeth Godinez-Laureano (husband Tano), step-sons, Jason DeBoni, and Ryan DeBoni (wife Karina). Grandchildren Javier C. Valadez, Miguel A. Lauriano, Lola Z. Laureano, Moises G. Laureano, and Robert DeBoni. He is also survived by his sister and partner in crime, Rachel Gordon, his best friend, Jim Reynolds, his brothers: John, Alex, and Frank and 31 nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7,2016 from 9:00-11:30AM, rosary to be recited 11:30-12:00, funeral mass 12:30-1:30PM, with internment at 1:30-2:00PM at Santa Clara Mortuary in Oxnard. ~
