She made me this picture for me of my first German Shepherd Dog.

      I am saddened by the passing of your mother and grandmother, but I am in awe of the way she had of beautifying her surroundings wherever she was.  I remember how she took a simple bathroom wall and painted tall thin trees on it, then accented it with beautiful bird and flower decals she had designed herself on tissue paper. She took a plain entryway and softened it by constucting an archway with hollowed-out bricks. When she was in her "modern" phase, and I lived with her and my father, it was sometimes easy to forget how great and realistic her figure sketches were.  I still have the sketch she did of me when I modeled for one of her college classes (wearing a bathing suit). She taught me how to use an air brush, and I designed some of my own clothes for a while before I moved out. She also scared me to death one night when I came home after dark and there were  life-sized sculptures of children running around in the entry hall, ready for a n art show the next day.  In my adult years she always treated the grandkids with great love and tenderness whenever we came over to swim on Sundays. I appreciated her kindness. May God bless you in your grief.

Please let me extend my condolences to all of you. I know that your mom was a very special and unique person. There was only one.
mom Ethel and everyone in her path knows how much she loved her children. She was and is your North star shining from the heavens guiding you in life and now into eternity. Her gentle ways and beauty will be always remembered. I know I certainly won't forget how beautifully she presented herself and her countless hats and how willing she was to share her knowledge. Always the teacher, the painter and the mom.  I won't forget you, Mom Ethel. Wherever you are there will be beauty and art and a mother's love.
