

On the evening of June 17, 2023 Jonathan Perez Genavia unexpectedly passed away in an accident while riding his motorcycle on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, CA at the age of 35 years old.
Jonathan was born in Morong, Bataan in the Philippines on December 10, 1987.
He was the second child, and first son of Amelita and John Medardo Genavia. He met his wife, Rhea, at one of their close friend’s house party and they fell in love with each other on June 5, 2007. On August 2008 he welcomed their first born, his one and only son, and on October 2015 and April 2020 he welcomed his two beautiful daughters. His family were the most important part of his life.
Jonathan aka “Jon G.” was a devoted and loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend who will always be remembered by his big handsome smile and his contagious laugh that always brought light and joy into every room. His dedication to his family, kindness to everyone, and good work ethic were among his many character traits that made everyone love him so much.
During his years working at the Las Virgenes Unified School District, Jonathan was said to be the one who would bring
light to the students and was widely adored. He always found a way to brighten everyone’s day. It was commented and said that his smile and kindness will be sorely be missed.
Jonathan always knew how to have fun, be the life of the party, and to be adventurous. Riding his motorcycle with his loved ones/friends, and going on various adventures was something that brought him happiness. He would often go on rides to scout locations , so that he could bring his family back there to share the beautiful moments and scenery he found. He prioritized his family and made sure they always come first and include them in everything that brings him joy, and made it a point to bring them along on his adventures and valued giving them memorable beautiful experiences that they can always remember forever.
Jonathan is survived by his wife (Rhea Vanessa Gabrinez), son (Rhey-John Gabrinez Genavia), daughters (Mia Alexandria Gabrinez Genavia, Abigail Mae Gabrinez Genavia), parents (John and Amelita Genavia), siblings (Celia Lyn Alagar, brother-in-law Roger Alagar, John Medardo Genavia, and Precious-Mae Genavia) and in-laws (Mamerto and Lulu Gabrinez), brother in-law (Mark Gabrinez).
A visitation for Jonathan will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 2:00PM to 9:00PM at Funeraria Del Angel Oxnard, 401 West Channel Islands Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93033, and a rosary service will be held from 6:00PM to 7:00PM. A visitation will occur Friday June 30, 2023 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, 401 West Channel Islands Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93033. A funeral service will occur Friday June 30, 2023 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at Mary Star of the Sea, 463 West Pleasant Valley Rd. Oxnard, CA 93033.
