

Joseph (Joe) Warren Cross, 92, of Port Hueneme, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 9, 2011.
Joe spent all of his childhood years in Jewell, KS where he graduated from Jewell High School. On March 2, 1941 he married the love of his life, Nellie Nadine Moore. He was a WWII Navy veteran and after spending some time in the navy, he and Nadine were blessed with a daughter. After his discharge, he and Nadine made their home in Wichita which Joe built himself while working for Beechcraft. Later on he was transferred to Beechcraft at Point Mugu Naval Base California and lived in Port Hueneme where his son was born.
Joe and his son Duane worked together for over 25 years as handymen. Joe could always figure a way to fix anything and to figure a solution to any problem. Survivors include daughter Patti Blackmore and husband Dave of Jewell KS, son Duane of the home, granddaughter Cristi Wiegers and husband Dan of Wamego, KS, granddaughter Stacy Behrends, husband Joey of Beloit, KS and grandson Benn Blackmore and wife Amanda of Wichita, KS and four great grandchildren, Madison, Berkeley, Remi, and Reid, sister Pauline Shamburg of Wichita and sister-in-law Annabelle cross of Beloit, KS and two nieces. Preceded in death by parents, Roy and Zelma Cross, brother Jim Cross, sister Elizabeth Braden and brother-in-laws Swede Shamburg and Kenneth Braden.
Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18 at First Baptist Church in Port Hueneme followed by burial at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
