March 19, 1952 – January 23, 2026
Richard Alberto Gomez, a lifelong resident of Oxnard, California, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on March 19, 1952, in Oxnard, CA.
Richard was truly someone who embodied the saying: to know him was to love him. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, strong values, and a deep appreciation for every day he was given.
Richard dedicated 50 years of service as a Program Manager for the U.S. Government. His career began humbly at just 16 years old at the Point Mugu Naval Base—an early start that reflected his strong work ethic, discipline, and commitment, which he carried throughout his life.
A man of profound Catholic faith, Richard was a devoted member of Saint Mary Magdalene Parish in Camarillo. His love for God radiated through his daily rosaries, prayers, and his genuine passion for helping others. His faith was not only practiced but lived—through kindness, compassion, and service.
Richard found immense joy in traveling and cruising the world with his beloved wife, Dolores, proudly reaching the milestone of 100 cruises together. They also recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary with a celebration cruise that was absolutely memorable. He had a love for exploring different cultures through ethnic foods, caring for his many adored pets, and embracing life’s adventures.
Above all, Richard had an extraordinary gift for uplifting and motivating others—whether a family member, friend, colleague, or even a stranger he met at the gas station. He greeted everyone with a warm smile, encouraged them to reach their fullest potential, and inspired greatness wherever he went. He walked with a pep in his step, danced his way through life, and always found the silver lining in every situation and every person. Richard truly was a light in every room he entered.
Richard’s loving legacy lives on through his family: his devoted wife, Dolores Gomez; his son, Richard A. Gomez Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Veronica Vasquez-Gomez; and his cherished grandchildren, James Farias and Thaliza Aranda.
He is also survived by his beloved mother, Camarina Gomez, and his siblings: Rita Rickrode, Diana Pimienta, Margie Andrade, and Rigo Andrade.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving son, Edward Arthur Jorge Gomez, and his precious grandson, Reign Rich Royce Gomez. May he now rest in eternal peace and rejoice in heaven reunited with them.
