Dad has sadly left us, only in body; his memory will live on with us. Ruben went to Heaven on August 6, 2024. It was time dad went home to be with Mom and family who prepared for his arrival. Ruben was born in La Cruces, Chucándiro, Michoacán De Ocampo, México, and came to the United States as an infant. While growing up, Dad worked many jobs picking cotton, peaches, apricots, and many other fruits and vegetables. He finally settled working for Oxnard Lemon Association where he worked for 42 years. He became one of the first Hispanic Plant Superintendents in the county. During his journey, he met and fell in love with Mary Isabell; they soon married, started a family and had three boys, all who became successful in their own rights. Mom and Dad lived the American dream, not only having a family but also became homeowners in 1956. Then, if that wasn’t enough, they proudly became U.S. Citizens on April 2, 1999.
Dad loved camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time in Las Vegas but he mostly enjoyed watching his team the LA Dodgers.
Ruben leaves three sons, Ruben Jr. (Erma), Richard (Sherry), and David (Rosanne). Additionally, he leaves 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents Cornelio and Sara, his sister Carmen, his brother Robert, and his beloved wife Mary.
At this time, we would like to extend our appreciation to all of the support teams who helped Dad starting with Dr. K. Singh; Dr. J. Vicente; Evelia, Celina, and Maynise at CareMax; Gabriel G. at St. John’s Hospital; Dan at Livingston Hospice; a special thanks to Eloina Perez, and so many others who helped Dad along his amazing journey. Thank you all.
