Teresa Bell Smith

Teresa Bell Smith, born on May 1, 1940 was called home at 12:30 pm on February 4, 2016 at the age of 75. She was the 5th of six children, born in Altus, Oklahoma to Bishop Jerue Burkes Hawkins and Phoebe Ann (Kidd) Hawkins

Teresa grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma and her family later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Teresa moved to California in the early 1970s where she worked as a Certified Cook for Camarillo State Hospital and California Youth Authority for over 20 years before retiring. After her retirement, she went back to work part-time for the City of Oxnard as a School Crossing Guard and part-time for the Oxnard Police Department monitoring police videos in downtown Oxnard.

Teresa is survived by her son Terrence Davis and her sister Mary Anger of Oxnard, California, her brother Jerue Hawkins Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandsons Terrence Hawkins Jr, Shaun Aaron, and Johnathan Clark; granddaughters Mariah Ann Davis, Johnquill Henry, Lena Ellis, and Nicolette Ellis, nephews Chris, Manuel, and Victor Anger, Zachery, Russel, Timothy, and Bruce Hawkins, nieces Marie and Jeannie Anger and Tina, Andrea, and Colette Hawkins, and a host of great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be at Del Angel Mortuary, 401 West Channel Islands Blvd, from 4-8:00pm, Friday, 12 February 2016.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00, Saturday, 13 February 2016, at Channel Islands Community Church of God In Christ, 1350 Channel Islands Blvd of Oxnard California, Supt. E.L. White, Pastor with Rev. Dr. JB Williams Sr., Officiating. She will be laid to rest at Ivy Lawn Cemetery, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura, California.
