With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Virginia “Virgie” Perez Cantaderio, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who peacefully departed this life in her Oxnard home, embraced by her loving husband, on May 8, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Atolinga, Zacatecas, Mexico, on December 9, 1949, to Maria Guadalupe Flores Perez and Jesus Gonzalez Perez. Virgie's early life was fi lled with the joys of a carefree childhood; growing up in Mexico, memories which she fondly shared with her siblings. At the age of 11, she emigrated to the United States with her family, making their home in Oxnard, California, where she would become a long-time resident. Virgie attended Channel Islands High School and furthered her education with vocational training in Oregon. Known for her adventurous spirit and spontaneity, she explored the diverse landscapes of Washington, Nevada, Arizona, and Puerto Rico. In marriage to Mario Cantaderio, she built a life of love and companionship, celebrating 38 years of faithfulness. After a dedicated forty-year career in client relations, Virgie retired to devote herself to the care of her cherished grandchildren. Her life was a testament to the importance of family, and she found immense joy in nurturing her grandchildren, sharing with them her passions for cooking, crafting, gardening, music, and the beauty of the outdoors. Scenic drives with her husband were among her most treasured moments. Virgie will be remembered for her boundless generosity, inner strength, signature spunk, and sharp wit. While we mourn the loss of our beautiful matriarch, we take solace in the knowledge that she now rests in eternal peace with the Lord. We are eternally grateful for the gift of her life and the enduring legacy of love and faith she leaves behind. Her memory will be cherished, her love forever felt, and her presence deeply missed. Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Guadalupe Flores Perez and Jesus Gonzalez Perez, and her brothers, Jesus, Larry, Lupe, and Richard. She is survived by her loving husband, Mario Cantaderio; her daughters, Elvia Enriquez, Jessica Enriquez-Sanchez (Sergio), Olivia Enriquez Magana (Allister), and Andrea Gonzalez (JJ); her ten adoring grandchildren; and her siblings, Rosie, Socorro, and Louie.
A visitation will be held on May 21, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel in Oxnard. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by interment at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery.
