
She was born in Barbour County, Alabama, living most of her life in Ozark, Alabama before moving to Vidalia in 1995. She worked with Phillip Van Heusen for many years, and as a seamstress at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. She was a former member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ozark, and was a member of the Vidalia Baptist Temple and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxie Chalker; parents, Oscar and Minnie Ann Tharpe Phillips; and six siblings, Mattie Lou Mathis, Don, Joe, Jack, and Perry Phillips, and an infant brother.
Mrs. Chalker is survived by three children, Danny Chalker of Ozark, Janice Snellgrove and husband Mickey of Lyons, and Mike Chalker and wife Vicki of Dothan, Alabama; one sister, Annie Laura Doster of Ozark; two brothers, Eldon Phillips and wife Becky of Ozark, and J.D. Phillips and wife Pat of Dothan; five granddaughters, Michelle Snellgrove Hayes and husband Lucky, Melody Snellgrove Hayes and husband Brad, Blair Chalker Brown and husband David, Kristy Chalker Cedeno and husband Eric, and Brandee Brunson; five great-granddaughters, Kasey, Katie, Kara, Sydney, and Sophie Hayes; two great-grandsons, Miles and Isaac Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
