

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church in Jerome, Missouri with Rev. Donnie Arthur officiating. Interment will follow in Harrison Cemetery, Phelps County, Missouri with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the church in Jerome Friday, October 21, from noon until service time.
Joan, the daughter of the late Frank Wilfred and Ivy Beatrice Faulkner Coulson, was born June 26, 1929 in Newport, South Wales. As a young adult, Joan worked on double-decker buses in Newport. After moving to Ozark, Alabama, she assisted her husband with their business – Brinkley’s War Drum, while she raised five children and kept a beautiful home. She always lived for her husband and children, and loved them dearly along with her dogs, birds, and flowers.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George Brinkley, in 1988.
She is survived by two daughters: Linda Brinkley Martin of Level Plains, AL and Lisa Brinkley (Roger) Chaney of Ozark, AL; three sons: Frank (Aileen) Brinkley of Ozark, AL, Curtis (Shonda) Brinkley of Texas, and Jimmy Brinkley of Decatur, AL; sister, Delma (Curtis) Hancock; brother-in-law, Frankie (Jane) Brinkley; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Felicia Pattie.
