

A funeral service honoring his life will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Browns United Methodist Church with Reverend Marquis Wingard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in Russell’s honor to Community Hospice or Browns United Methodist Church.
Russell was owner of American Eagle Antiques in Ozark for many years, later adding a golf shop. He was well known for his talents in refurbishing antiques. After his retirement he drove a school bus for the Ozark City School system. Driving the children of the Donald Duck bus was one of the highlights of his life. He also loved the crew at the transportation department.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Snell West, of Skipperville; one son: Todd Avery West of Ozark; one brother and sister-in-law: Scott (Carole) West of Piney Flats, TN; one sister: Marilyn (Clayton) Zahner of St. Windsor, CT; one half-sister: Sylvia (Bill) Masi of New Egypt, NJ; one step-daughter: Denise (Wade) Strickland of Ozark; two special grandchildren: Sommer and Tanner Strickland; and one step-son: Eugene Martin of Ozark.
