Graveside services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Mrs. Powell graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, and was employed with the Holiday Inn in Ozark and Enterprise, AL. She loved traveling and riding with her husband Jack on their motorcycle.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her two grandchildren, Troy and Trevor Simmons.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Powell of Level Plains; her daughter, Vicky Simmons (Tony) of Enterprise, AL.; her sons, Chris Van Ackern (Jenny) of Minot, N.D., Randy Van Ackern (Charlene) of Enterprise, AL., Steven Van Ackern and Fiance, Raven Munder, Chris Powell (Cynthia) of Farmville, N.C.; brother, James Sears (Teri) of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren, Brittany Powell, Brian Van Ackern, Taylor Van Ackern, Trey Simmons, Tyler Simmons and Hunter Andrews.
