

Al was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines in 1956 in Rapid City.
He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952 in Fighter Squadron VF-11 in Jacksonville, Florida, and on USS Philippine Sea in Blimp Squadron ZP-3 in Lakehurst, New Jersey and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Al was employed by Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado, from 1958 to 1962 and 1971 to 1992. He was employed by Radiation, Inc. from 1962-1971. He retired in Melbourne in 1992. He was involved in many space programs including the Apollo Lunar Mission and the Viking Mars Mission. He was on-line at Mission Operations in Pasadena during both Viking landings on Mars.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine of 72 years, his son David of Sacramento, California, daughters Debra Johnson (Lowell) of Loveland, Colorado, Tanya Dorobiala (Eric) of Castle Pines, Colorado, and Sherri Nash of San Francisco, California. Also, grandchildren Tai Borgman (Bill), Jennifer Hickman (Brian) and Sean Dorobiala (Amanda), and great grandchildren, Landon and Austin Borgman, Eliana Hickman and Avery Dorobiala. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ella Nash, brother Robert Nash, sister Dorothy Olson and granddaughter Jaclyn Fifer.
His hobbies included traveling with his wife Lorraine, sailing, photography, and bicycling.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 28th, 11:00 a.m. at First Church of Melbourne at 110 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne, Florida.
