at the age of 94 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Wedowee Alabama, she came into this world fighting as a preemie in 1930, and had to be held on a pillow in a shoe box 24/7 by someone the first few months of her life, in front of a wood burning stove.
She went on to play basketball in high school and graduated from Beula High School. She married Gary Hudmon, and they had 5 children: 4 boys and 1 girl. She worked as a Window Dresser for Woolworths, worked putting zippers in Levi Jeans, was the dietician at Indian River Memorial Hospital from 1963 until1974. Then, she was a commercial fisherman for Kingfish for several years, even drove a forklift in a packing house until her son David saw her and said not his Mama. From there she went to work for Harris Corporation, copper and gold-plating computer boards for satellites. She was a great cook, and anyone who ate one of her biscuits never forgot them. She was a worker, and all of our friends knew when she started cleaning the house they better get busy doing something.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred Markovitz, ex-husband Gary Hudmon, Father James G. Stewart, Mother Hattie L. Stewart, brothers William Stewart, John Stewart, Carlos Stewart, 3 infant brothers and sister Laura J. Whatley. Son Gary David Hudmon, and grandson Gary David Hudmon II. She is survived by her sons Grady, Kent, & Jimmy Hudmon, daughter Rita Dismukes, Two stepsons Fred and Michael Markovitz,10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephew's greats and great-greats.
