Betty Lou was born in Marengo, Illinois on December 21, 1926 and was the daughter and only child of Paul and Iva (Griebel) Wachob. She graduated from Marengo High School and attended the college of Lake Forrest. Betty Lou worked in a bank for a few short years before becoming a stay-at-home wife and mother, where she raised three children. She and her husband, Jesse, relocated to Florida upon retirement, where they lived out the remainder of their lives.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly seventy years, Jesse, and her parents Paul and Iva Wachob.
Betty Lou was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Marengo. She enjoyed traveling, attending theatrical performances, playing cards, watching old movies, and spending time with her family. She was involved with the war effort during WWII and was a member of the Red Hats organization for many years, in addition to supporting the Shriners organization that her husband was a member of. She will be remembered for her bold personality and her forthright attitude.
Betty Lou is survived by her children Nancy (Jim) Jamrozek, Tom (Pam) Ratfield, and Bill (Pamela) Ratfield; her grandchildren Jennifer Jamrozek, Kimberly Jamrozek, Megan
(Jamrozek) Bundy, Jonathan Ratfield, Chad Ratfield, and Nicole (Ratfield) Garcia; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at the Fountainhead Funeral Home, located at 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909, on Friday, January 10, 2020. The viewing will be from 12pm to 1 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 1 pm and the internment will follow at 2pm.
Family and friends are then invited to gather at 4pm in the Rhum Cove Clubhouse, located at 5011 Dixie Hwy. NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905. Parking will be available outside the main gate.
Donations can be made in Betty Lou's memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
