Cyril George Wisdom, 97, passed away on July 11, 2020 at William Childs Hospice House at 9:30 pm. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife and companion, Gwendolyn Elenore Wisdom of which they shared 60 plus years together. He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Bobbsey Bygrave.
Born in St. Ann Jamaica, he was the son of Elizabeth William and Zachius Wisdom. He attended Bethany Elementary School in Jamaica as a young man before migrating to the United Kingdom to pursue better opportunities. After spending some time there, he returned to Jamaica to marry the love of his life on September 6, 1951. They both then went back to the United Kingdom where they lived for several years prior to moving to Toronto, Canada where they settled before retiring to Palm Bay, Florida.
He worked at Publix supermarket as a utility clerk for a short time. He was a member of the Palm Bay Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a member of the Independent United Order Of Mechanics. He became a member of the Peark Of Toronto Lodge #2 where he received his Sir Night Degree. In 2002, he joined the Pride Of Palm Bay Lodge #5 where he served as a Chaplin and a Junior Decan
Uncle Cyril enjoyed gardening, playing dominoes, listening to classical music, and traveling. He will be remembered for being very loving and caring and his story telling.
He is survived by two brothers: Vincent Wisdom (affectionately called Buxie) and Herbert Cunningham. He is also survived by his favorite niece, Zelpha Wisdom-Parkinson; nephew, Monroe Wisdom; grandchildren: Vincent Bygrave, Patricia Smikle, and Maxine Wilson; many other nieces and grand nieces, great grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by sisters: Doris Higgins and Vera Wray-Hogarth and brothers: Arbery Higgins and Percival Wray.
Mr. Wisdom dedicated his life to Christ until his final day on earth before ascending to glory.
